Royal Seal of Approval for Restored Almshouses

Published by Simpson Hilder

HRH Prince Charles has given his Royal Seal of approval to the major restoration of Grade II listed Boultbee Cottages in the New Forest. The £600,000 restoration and extension scheme brought the historic properties up to modern standards and has been awarded the prestigious Patron’s Award by the Almshouse Association.

Patron’s Award Winner: Boultbee Cottages, Emery Down

The Patron’s Award was instituted in the Year 2000 to celebrate excellence in architectural and living standards and to recognise outstanding projects and developments. There are 31,000 almshouses in the United Kingdom accommodating around 36,000 people.

Simpson Hilder Associates provided Architectural Services for the project and monitoring of the works through to completion on behalf of Emery Down Almshouse Trust.

Goodwood Revival 2014

Published by Simpson Hilder

Goodwood Revival 2014

On Friday SHA returned to the Goodwood Revival for the second of our two social events this summer for clients and professional colleagues.

Graced with beautiful weather we met outside the historic Goodwood Circuit for the now traditional bacon butties and champagne prior to entering the grounds for the qualifying rounds of an impressive range of classic cars interspersed with historic military aircraft displays.

Reconvening for lunch in the shade of our gazebo we restored ourselves before re-entering the grounds for the afternoon to soak up more of the unique atmosphere of period costume, cars and street theatre.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for your convivial company. A great day was had by all despite the hot weather.
